Smart Q 5 or 7?

Smart Q 5 or 7?

Well, after a frustrating Sunday (Stolen Nationite/Teclast) I've decided to stray away from just a PMP player and maybe get a nice/nifty MID. The site I normally go on doe not carry any of them, and I did remember allpmp does, so upon looking, I've noticed the SmartQ 5's and 7's, but wanted to know which one would be a better choice, and which model? The duo client? I'm not too good with this scene to begin with, so if anyone has any information for me, that would be GREAT!

EDIT : A few things that I would like to know off the bat are : Can these multitask at all? Will I be able to play music and use the browser at the same time?
Can adobe flash be installed onto this? (Are flash games compatible?)
How is the support on these? Are there updates at a decent speed, or are we kept waiting?
And with the updates, how hard is it to flash over to the new version?

Thanks again~~

As far as I know the SmartQ Q5 and 7 have the ability to multi task, but the performance might not fully allow for it to.

The MID market right now is a very confusing place. Especially since SmartQ is trying to load as many OS's as they possibly can on the thing. (The new V7 model will triple boot: Windows CE, Ubuntu Linux, Android).

Problem is that because of trying to get so many OS's working, they don't spend as much time getting one to work REALLY well.

From everything I've heard the SmartQ's right now are very much a tech savvy's tinker toy. Some things will simply take the end user a lot of tinkering to fix and get working. Also keep in mind the manual is in Chinese so no help there.

To be quite honest to you, if I were in the market for a MID. . .I'd buy an Archos 5. They're SUPER CHEAP ($229 for the 250Gb version on Amazon: It's a sale).

I would have bought one myself instead of a Ramos T11RK but the Ramos came with everything for TV-Out so I wouldn't have to purchase anything extra, was $75 cheaper, and I already have an iPhone to do my web browsing.

But for someone like you, that might be the best deal around. Get it fast however. I don't know how long the sale will last.

Onda vx787 8Gb w/ two class 6 micro SDHC 4Gb and one class 6 micro SDHC 8Gb cards.
Coming Soon: Ramos T11RK!
iPhone 3G 16Gb Black. Jailbroken with FW 3.0

I've seen a video of Flash installed on the device but have no idea how to do it. I wouldn't recommend it either (Flash is bloated as hell).
There have been quite some updates since the devices came out. They're very easy to install. I don't know if they'll keep updating the SmartQ 5/7 because the SmartQ V5/7 are out now.

I didn't have any problems with multitasking and the SmartQs are very flexible devices. Much more options than the Archos 5(which is basically a media player with a browser instead of a full blown Linux distro). I love to use the browser to download a torrent for an ebook and reading it all on the same device . Performance isn't always great though.

Media Player

As a media player I can’t fault the SmartQ V5 fantastic screen and faultless playback on a large screen, now the bad part as a internet browser it is next to useless, 3 operating system neither one can do the job properly, I ended up using the Linux system but that was not perfect.
Why can't the manufactures stick to one operating system and make it really good!
Sold mine now, so it’s not a problem should have purchased a standard media player for HD playback, hope I have not upset you guys who purchased this MID, but I like my hi tech toys perfect.

Why would you upset somebody? I think the SmartQ V5 is a great piece of hardware with somewhat flawed operating systems for a  very good price. But if a 100% easy and smooth user  experience is most important, I recommend getting another device.
